THREE-CHAPTER ROMANCE
MAN’S FORTUNATE ACCIDENT.
Thirteen years ago Mr Harold Makepeace, a London businessman, was lyjfu'g seriously wounded in la British hospital in France. Only the ‘devoted nursing of a young V.A.D. nurse saved his life. A few weeks ago. at Brighton Mr Makepeace was involved in a slight car accident, which resulted in his receiving medical treatment and being confined to bed for a few days. The nurse who was assigned to his case was the former V.A.D. who had nursed him in hospital! A few days later Mr Makepeace left for London with the niU'c by his side. They wer e engaged to be married. These, three chapters in a remarkable romance were told by Mr Makepeace himself. “When I was released from hospital'during the war,” he skid. “I corresponded with the lady who had nursed me for some months. After_ ward we lost touch with one another, and though I attempted to discover her whereabouts l w r as not successful.’’ Mr Makepeace, went to Brighton on holiday, and bad the misfortune to run his car into a wall and receive some severe cuts about the face. Having ordered him, to bed for a few days, his doctor engaged a nurse to look after him. “You can imagine my astonishment when I discovered that the nurse v 7 as the girl who had nursed me during the war,” Mr Makepeace said. “We were both overjoyed to see each other apt in, and now we are to be married. 1
