Thus far in the bootleggers’ war three vessels have been sunk and fourteen persons have lost their lives.

A motor-ship carrying spirits was mined and five members of the crew were drowned, including Captain Malmberg, Sweden’s “bootleg king.” The next day a motor-boat exploded at almost the same spot, killing four. The police arc convinced that it was mined by Malm berg’s gang in revenge for their leader’s death.

Finally a police boat hurrying to the scene to make investigations was wrecked, tire crew being drowned, including a detective. The death roll i<n the bootleggers’ war thus far is fourteen.
