NOT ON BOARD
LORD BLEDISLOE MISSES TRAIN. AUCKLAND, September 29. As the north-bound express was about to leave Taihape on Saturday evening it was discovered that the Gov-ernor-General Lord Bledisloe, who was passing through to Te Kuiti, and haq alighted for a brief stroll down the streets, was not on board. Consequently the train was delayed while railway officials searched the town for his Excellency. He was eventually discovered standing in front of a shop window. When Lord Bledisloe was informed that the‘train was waiting for him he ran as fast as lie could to the station, so anxious was he to cause no further delay. The official party laughed heartily as the Governor-General entered his carriage breathing heavily as the result if his exertions. His Excellency and Lady Bledisloe joined in the laughter as the train resumed its journey ten minutes behind schedule time. ft appears that his Excellency was misinformed as to the length of time the train stayed fUt Tadliape, being told that it stopped 20 minutes, whereas it is only due to stop for ten minutes.
