MOTORING IN HAWAII
VISITORS BRING CARS. ' HONOLULU, September 5. More und more travellers are “driving” .their automobiles to the Hawaiian Islands, tourist statistics show. Last year a total number of 1061 group of..globe trotters brought their own cars with them to Honolulu, where they were met as the ship docked by a representative of the active Honolulu Automobile Club, and later 'given a courtesy- drivers license good for 90 days. . "'fS '' \ ' There are hundreds of miles of paved roads, on the four principal Hawaiian Islands of Oahu (Honolulu), Hawaii, Maui and Kauai, where motoring is a popular sport, due to the absence of roadside billboards—prohibited by law and public' sentiment. At the present time there 45,501 privately owned motor vehicles in the Territory.of Hawaii.
