BRIGHTER OUTLOOK
COMPANY CHAIRMAN’S VIEW
MASTERTON, September 29.
The opinion that indications pointed toward an improvement economically was expressed by Mr C. M. Bowden, chairman of directors of the Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-operative Association, when addressing the annual meeting of shareholders to-day.
The future was uncertain, and it would be a bold man who would prophesy what was going to happen, but he thought one could go so far as to say that the stage was set for an upward turn. “Speaking for the board of directors I can say we look forward with a great deal of confidence to the future,” he said.
Reviewing the operations of the company during the year, Mr Bowden said that the loss ®f £48,280/9 /- was due chiefly to a decline in the turnover, to the reduced price level, and to substantially lower earnings from wool and stock commissions.
Expenditure had been carefully watched, and was less than that for the previous year.
