An Orcler-in-Couneil, providing that the dumping, provisions of the Customs Act will hereafter apply on importations from Great Britain, for which less than four dollars 86 2-3 cents in Canadian currency for each pound sterling is paid, was approved to-day.
FRANCE DEBT PAYMENT TO BRITAIN.
LONDON, September 29
In the House of Commons, Mr P. Snowden informed Mr Kirkwood that the French war debt to Britain at the date of the funding agreement in 1926 was six hundred million sterling, The annuities hitherto puid by France have amounted to £43,626,000.
POLITICS AND SPECULATION,
LONDON, September 80. On the Stock Excnunge to-day, business was held in check by T,he political uncertainty, but British funds were well maintained on the steadiness of the sterling rate.
BRITISH REVENUE SLUMP. 32 MILLION IN SIX MONTHS. LONDON, October 1. Britain’s revenue for the past six months totals £263,466,442, which is a decrease of £32,014,469 as compared with the same period for the previous year. The expenditure was £361,876,691, an increase of £8,176,914.
In the Commons, Mr Gilmour announced that the Government did not intend to amend the Sugar Subsidy and British Sugar Industry Acts.
