NEW EXCHANGE RATE
• FOR AUSTRALIA. (Australian Press Association.) ' CANBERRA, September 30. The Federal Government has now been advised that a reduction in Australia's rate must inevitably follow ; the changed conditions in Britain • but that it would be unwise to push . too strongly for this reduction until the English pound has become more stabilised.
MR THEODORE’S STATEMENT. ... CANBERRA, September 30. \ Regarding the alteration of Australian ■ exchange rate, Hon. E. G. Theodore; the Federal Treasurer, announced in the; Ifouse of Representatives today; that’ the Government had agreed that it would not be advisable to make any 'change in Australia’s exchange rate which would mean a sudden drop in it\.at the present time. The Treasurer added that the negotiations between the Government and the banks' hiad not .yet concluded, but he was hopeful of getting the money sought. . ■; •'
