LIFT ACCIDENT
YOUTH DIES IN HOSPITAL. CHRISTCHURCH, September 29. •Admitted to the Christchurch Hospital a month ago suffering from injuries received in a lift accident, Henry George Nelson Haxell died at 3.25 a.m. yesterday. He was twentyone years of age, and resided at 13, Jerrold Street, Addington. An inquest was opened in the evening and after evidence of identification had been given was adjourned sine die. Haxell, jt is stated, received 'injuries to the head on Saturday morning, August 8, at the used car department of Dominion Motors, through the cable of a works lift breaking. He had driven a motor-car on to the platform of the lift, not designed to carry passengers, when the overhead gear gave way, and the lift platform fell down the lift well, a distance of about twenty feet. He was able to extricate himself without difficulty, but h'i-s admission to hospital was considered necessary. His condition was considered satisfactory at first, but he made no improvement and during the past week gradually sank.
