AUCKLAND, September 28,

Fatal injuries were received by apedestrian, Charles Anderson, single, aged about 55, as the result of being struck by a taxi-cab while crossing Beach Road to-night. Anderson received fractures of both legs and one arm and other serious injuries. He died at the hospital.

MOTOR ACCIDENT SEQUEL.

CHRISTCHURCH. September 29

As a sequel to a fatal accident in Spreyton on August 21, when his son was killed, Frank Jenkins o$ Port Levy, was charged with dangerously driving a truck, which had capsized. Defendant was convicted and discharged. Counsel said as far as a penalty was concerned, Jenkins would carry through life the knowledge that he had indirectly caused his son’s death.

Magistrate Mosley said that no punishment he could inflict could compare with that which defendant bad inflicted on himself.
