HOUSE AFIRE
OCCUPANTS RESCUED BY BRIGADE. -

WELLINGTON,. September 26.
Two occupants of a wooden house at 147 Vivian Street, bad to escape through a window on to the verandah when they discovered the building ablaze early this morning. The Fire Brigade, which received, a call at 2.28 a.m., was quickly on the scene, and effected the rescue of .the two people by
means of ladders. The building was well alight iwhen the Brigade arrived. An adjoining house was also alight but the Brigade madeagbod save and prevented any serious damage. No. 147, which is owned by the Downes estate, and was occupied by . Geroge S. Groves, suffered extensively.
