AUCKLAND,- September 28, \ After throwing pepper'ln the face of a, woman cashier, a man snatched a handful of bank notes from the ticket box a.t the Strand Theatre, in Queen Street on Saturday evening and escaped. The man approached the box at about a quarter to nine, when nobody elge was about and asked for a slid ing ticket. As the cashier, Miss Eileen Tratter, handed him the ticket, he sudden’y produced a match box full of pepper and threw it in her eyes and snatched the nearest pile of notes, about £l6 and dashed into the street,... dropping a £5 note in his haste. t Attendants chased him but lost sight of him. ; ' -.'.V ...
