RECORD-BREAKING TRIP. REPETITION TO BE COSTLY. AUCKLAND, September 21. Kenm.tr Wilkins n, of C-inbridge, was fined £2O at the Otahuliu Court to-day for dangerous driving while on a rei ol d-breaking trip from . According to the booklet, the car took twenty-one minutes to travel from Auckland to Papakura, which represented a speed of 54 miles an hour.. Defendant left Auckland at four on Easter Tuesday morning. Defendant’s counsel denied that his speed endangered anyone. The inspector told the Magistrate that the Highways Board wanted the practice stopped, as others had tried to heat-defendant’s record. Counsel: But they failed.
