THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.

CUTTING RAILWAY FARES. The new policy of reducing railway fares is a reversal of that of last year, it is a bold attempt to attract custom by reducing prices, and it is a challenge to the motor services that run in competition with the railways. No one can be better aware than the Board that this may lead to ; a serious falling off in revenue. railway transport will largely depend —“Auckland Star.”
