STANTON’S BODY FOUND

ON BANK OF RIVER.

AUCKLAND, September 20.

Advice was received to day that the body of the missing climber, Warwick iStanton, was discovered this morning by a party of Lands and Survey Staff members from Wellington. . The body was found on the bank of the Upper Makatoetoe River.

The 'leader of the party, Mr W. G. ,Nelson,'' ffvho originally surveyed the area, came to Auckland last week, and interviewed 'Mr Addis, who last saw Stanton. As a result of the information given by iMr .Addis, it is evident that Mr Nelson was able to find Stanton’s body with little difficulty. A constable and a party of men from Taumarunui will leave to-night to bring out the body, which will be taken to Taumarunui, where an inquest will be opened. NAMES OF THE- FINDERS. TAUMARUNUI, September 20. The body of Warwick Stanton, one of the students from Auckland, who was lost in the blizzard on Mt. Ruapehu off September 6th, was found this lil'ortlittg by a party of surveyors comprising Messrs W. G, Melton, i\ H. Walters (Chief Surveyor), H. l)av : es (Land and Survey Department), V. L, Stewart (Land and Survey Department), and F. Connell (Bushman, of HoropfEo'h. The body was found near the Makatoetoe Stream, near where Addis was found. The position where the body was recovered is about six miles from'; Pokaka. A party of unemployed, in charge of Constable Bruce, left this afternoon, find the body will be brought to Taumarunui, where an inquest will be held. PARTY TO RECOVER BODY. TAUMARANUI, September 21. At daybreak this morning Mr AY. J. Nelson, the leader of the party of surveyed who found Stanton, took the party into the bush to recover the body which is lying under a limb of a tree in dense undergrowth, about seven chains from the bank of the Makatatoe stream, presumably at the spot where Addit left him.
