DIVIDED RACE
AUCKLAND TROTTING CUP
AUCKLAND, September 14
Although the Programme 'Committee of the Auckland Trotting Club has not
dealt with the balance of the programmes for the Cup meeting, it has decided that the Auckland Cup this year will be run off in two divisions and a final. No stake has been settled, but the race will probably carry about £2OOO, and two divisions will be run on the opening day and the final on the third clay of the meeting. The departure from the old custom of deciding.the Cup in one straight-out race should prove a very good one, as it will add interest to the race, and, ensuring plenty of starters, will see the final issue fought out by a field of eight —the four placed horses in each of the two divisions. The class last year was 4.28, and though there has been a suggestion that it could be- tightened up a second, the chances are that when the committee eventually frames the conditions the Cup will be found to be aga n a. 4.28 class.
