THREE ARRESTS
i FOLLOW CLASH IN PARLIAMENT GROUNDS. (By Teleyrapn—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 16. There was a clash between members of the National 'Workers Unemployment Union and police in the grounds of Parliament Buildings this mornu/g. The police were armed with , batons and blows were freely exchanged, culminating in the arrest of three men. I The Minister of Labour, Hon. Smith, had decided to receive a deputation of delegates from the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, Labourers Union, j Seamens Union and Unemployed 'Work, ers Union. Only the delegates were I allowed inside the gates to enter the building to- see the Minister, but subsequently members of the procession which paraded through ..-.the city were allowed in the grounds on condition that no speeches were made from the steps. One of the men stood on a soap box and addressed the crowd. The police endeavoured to reach him and one constable was .struck. Then the row commenced which resulted in the three arrests.
