LAND FOR UNEMPLOYED. WANGANUI, September 10. •Provision of free land, fertiliser anu seeds for the unemployed in Wanganui will be made by the Inter-Denoniiha-tional Bible Glasses Association at. Wanganui, so’that workless men living in rooms or flats will have the opportunity of growing vegetables for their own households. 1 he seeds were provided by the members of the Bible classes, who also provided money to be spent for this purpose. The president of the movement, 'Mr H. C. Jenkins, applied to the fertiliser companies, who agreed to give manures for the scheme, and at the recent meeting .of the movement in the Wanganui Opera House Air Jenkins made an appeal for vacant sections to bo used as gardens. Land has now been offered for eight gardens at Wanganui East, and negotiations are .in progress for the free provision of-land on St. John’s Bill. The gardens will have to be prepared by -the unemployed before seeds and manures ai'e supplied. The members of the Wanganui 'foe H group are inspecting the gardens for the scheme. Land for the unemployed of Wanganui to plant’gardens on has .been lent by Mr Hector Christie, Boy Scout Commissioner at Wanganui. During the winter Mr Christie has allowed unemployed to cut firewood on his Nutlands property, more than 100 cords having been obtained.
