PECULIAR INCIDENT. __ It •» BUS DRIVER’S EXPERIENCE. ■ i.-.hJUi ' - TIMARU, September 10. While Mr William King Henderson, a service-car driver of Washdyke, employed by Wan-aka Motors, Dunedin, was proceeding to his home on a motor-cycle with the day’s takings iu his possession about 6.50 p.m. on September 3, a bullet from a .22 calibre weapon penetrated his leather motorcoat and. coat and lodged in a pocket wallet which he carried in his right breast pocket. Interviewed at his home to-night, Mr Henderson said that he left his bus at Timaru and rode the- motor-cycle to liis homo, some three, miles away about 6.50 p.m.’ When he was riding home along the main road about a quarter of a mile past the Show Grounds, he lert a' sharp shock on the right side- of his body. At the time, he thought it was a sharp stone which' had sprung up from his front wheel and lie took nofurther notice until lie arrived home. An examination of liis clothes revealed a small hole in the right hand side of his leather overcoat. On further examination he found that a .22 calibre bullet had penetrated one side of his leather pocket wallet, piercing a hole in some license papers and pound notes and lodging in the centre of the wallet,! wliicli with the contents, was jialf an inch thick. He did not hear a report or see a flash at the- time.
