RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th, Included in lYA’is studio 1 programme this evening, will be “Lee Fore Brace,’’ teller of sea stories. He talks on “The Limbo of Lost Ships” this evening. The IYA Orchestra will play several selections, including the overture “Petei Schmcfll,” “A Lover in Damascus,” and the suite ‘‘Three Famous Pictures.” There will be pianoforte solos by Mi Cyril Towsey. The vocalists will be Miss Aimee.Clapham (contralto) and Mi Reg. Morgan (baritone). 2YA’s programme will be devoted to the relay from the Victoria University College of a debate by the Victoria University College Debating Society entitled “That this female freedom is a farcical failure.” Miss Nancy Bishop, a well known Ashburton singer and reciter, will make her debut at 3YA this evening as a singer. Baritone songs will be contributed by Mr Chas. Dewhurst, old favourites being sung. Humour will be provided by the Two Chatterboxes. Mr S. G. Hoskins, pianist, will play two pieces, one of Chopin’s and one of his own compositions, “Thoughts.” The Studio Octet will present a bright programme. During the evening Mr EIveagh Lord will deliver one of his series of talks on “The Story of the Golden Coast.” On this occasion he will deal with Kumara and Richard John Seddon. Captain H. M. McKay, who, with Lieutenant White recently achieved a
very fine performance by Hying to the Haast and back over the Alps to Dunedin, will give a talk from 4YA on “Aerial Exploration in the Southern Alps.”
The ever-popular Dagg’s Band will be with 4YA listeners once .again this evening. Assisted by the Select Four and Mr Bert Rawlinson they will present an old-ffirne programme entitled , “Songs of Other Days.” I SATURDAY, SEMPTEBFR 12th.' This evening, IYA will relay from the Auckland Town Hall the concert of the Auckland Municipal Choir, under the direction of Mr Maughan Barnett, j City Organist. 2LA will relay from the Concert Chamber of the Wellington Town Hall a concert by the Wellington Commercial Traveller*’ and Warehousemen’s Association Male Voice Choir. Dunedin artists will provide the programme for 3YA and 4YA this evening. The Phillips Sisters—a novelty duowill prove a clever and entertaining couple, for they are accomplished in s nglng ard play.ng the piano, and trumpet. ' The young lady who plays the t. limpet has seen only fifteen summers, but her performance rivals many brass band soloists. Miss Betty Hamilton will sing, also Mr ‘E. J. Mee, a new artist to radio, but with very wide experience in front of the lootlights. Mr Ted Heaney will play popular selections on the piano-accordeon. Mr Heaney is an outstanding artist with this instrument. Another exceptional combination on the programme will be the Trumpet and Bugle Band of the Ist Battalion of the Otago Regiment under Lieut. L. Napier. Miss 'Holland will present humorous items, whilst a very able trio, consisting of Mons. D. de Rose,, Messrs Ptttitt and L. Hunter, will play selections from “The Desert Song” as well as light intermezzos and gavottes.
