SHIPS LAID UP

by union coy. I (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 10. The slackness in the shipping trade has resulted in two more vessels, both owned by the Union Company, being laid up. s The Komata, the passenger and cargo vessel, of 2115 tons, which is engaged in the Wellington-Westport trade, was laid up at Wellington today, and she "’ill be withdrawn from the service indefinitely. The other vessel is the cargo steamer Gabriella of 1587 tons, which was taken over by the Union Company when that Company bought out the Australian Lamb Line.

The Gabriella recently completed unloading an Australian cargo at Napier and Picton, and after calling at Westport for hunkers, she proceeded to Sydney, where she arrived yesterday morning, and paid off her crew.
