MINING
ROSS PROSPECTING ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Executive of the Ross Prospecting Association was held in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday when the enclosed letter from the Minister of Mines was read. Appreciation arts expressed at the prompt rep > and the evident desire of the Ministei to encourage prospecting in the Ross District. Owing to some of the public considering that they had not been invited to the first public meeting, it was decided to hold a"further meeting, on Wednesday 16th inst., at which all interested in mining, and the benefit of the district are invited to attend.
It was a'lso decided that applications for subsidies should be received by the Association not only from the Ross Miners, hut all miners requiring assistance throughout Westland, and that the 'Association would do all in their power to assist. Some very fine specimens of quartz were shown at the meeting, and were estimated to produce about 6ozs of gold per ton.
