CRUELTY TO HORSE
A CHRISTCHURCH CASK. WELLINGTON, September 5. Harry Ernest Herbert, a carrier, was fined £5, in default- one month’s imprisonment by Mr Al’Neil, S.M., on a charge of cruelty to an animal. He was similarly ’ dealt with for using obsence language. The offences took place in Christchurch. The- police stated that it appeared that the accused was drunk in charge of a horse and cart. When he got home, •he took th» horse out and began to hammer it over the - head with a trace, at the same time using bad language. Mr M'Neil refused -to,, give the accused time to find the money.
