NO SIGN OF STANTON SEARCHERS’ DIFFICULTIES . (By Telegraph—Per Pies A-sociali .n ) THE CHATEAU, September 6. Reports at The Chateau at 7 o’clock to-night (Sunday) were to the effect that no trace has been found of Stanton. A blizzard swept the mountain yesterday. Some or the parties out searching had a very trying time therein. Icicles three feet long were hanging from some of the bushes. All the tracks which might have helped the searchers were obliterated by the storm. TAUMARUNUI SEARCHERS. TAUM ARANUI, September ‘5. Tile parties that returned here last night reported that they found no sign of Stanton. Further parties have gone out to-day, and this morning, over one hundred searchers were operating the Pokaka region. A party left Taumaranui this- morning under Mr J. Selby. The party will Camp in the bush and will remain till its supplies have run out. Thirty-six bush men spent last night in the bush. The weather is still cold and it is raining.

FUND FOR THE SEARCHERS. AUCKLAND, September 5. The Mayor, Mr Hutchison. to-day opened a fund to be devoted to compensating those who have searched, or have assisted in the search, for the lost climbers on Ruapehu. The appeal to the public will be limited to one week, and it is proposed to hand the proceeds to the National Park Board for distribution.
