With a display of bunting to mark the occasion, the finishing touches were put to-dav 'to Wellington /’Harbour Board’s new wharf, to which the Jubilee dock will be moored on arrival fioin England about March next.
General satisfaction was expressed by the Board’s officials at the progress of the work on the wharf, which has be:n completed five months within the time allowed.
It comprises an approach jetty 276 feet long, 23 feet wide and a main pier 489 feet long and 54 feet wide. The sea bed over which the dock will lie, has been dredged to a uniform depth of 46 feet.
The dock itself left the Tyne on its long tow to New Zealand on July 15ih.
