FIRE

OUTBREAK AT WINCH-MORE. (By Telegraph—Per press Association) ASHBURTON, September 2. A. six-room house owned and occupied by Mr 0. E. 'Newton, a farmer, of VVinehmore. w:»s destroyed by fire about 10.30 a.m. yesterday. The fire originated iu the front portion of the house. At the Lime, of the fire some, of th family were in the kitchen and, on opening a. door leading into the passage, found it full of smoke. The fire had secured a good hold by this tame and rapidly spread through the building. There was a fire in one of the front rooms and it is thought that the outbreak had been caused by a spark. With the exception of a few personal effects, nothing was saved. The dwelling was insured for £250 in the Commercial \jnion, The contents were covered for £l5O in the same office.
