There is a reign of terror ul Chittagong, where mobs of thousands of Moslems infuriated at the ffssassinationi of the Moslem police officer, looted Hindu jewellers, tailors and rice shops, after which they set the buildings on fire. The damage is estimated at eight hundred thousand sterling. The police were busy all day saving Hindus from th e mob’s fury. Airmed police are now patrolling the streets. Many were injured, including the Hindu senior deputy Magistrate, who was stoned.
