THE NEW ZEALAND TOUR. 1 AGAINST SUSSEX. A DRAWN GAAIE. (Special to Press Association). (Received this day at 9.25 a.m) HOVE, September I. Sussex and New Zealand cricketers continued the match at Sussex in fine weather. 'The county declared, with New Zealand 161 behind Dempster was bowled with a ball Tate turned in sharply. Mills and Blunt batted in their best form. Sussex declared' with 9 wickets for 549. New Zealand batsman again failed to take advantage of a good -start-. After the dismissal of Mills, who batted for a hundred minutes and hit eight fours, Blunt continued to bat soundly. His late cutting was ex-' oellent. AVith Talbot he wiped off the arrears. After lunch, when five short of the century he just dislodged a bail in playing back to Parks. He was exceedingly unlucky, He was in for 100 minutes and hit six fourst The remaining batsmen chiefly lost their wickets in attempting to force the pace. Talbot and Kerr were steady and Merritt hit freely at the close of the innings. Bowling with a new ball after 200, Wensley struck form, swung away lato and made pace from the pitch. Lowry and James were caught in the slips and Vivian played on. Sussex needed 142 for victory. BowL ey and Parkes batted till stumps were drawn. The attendance' was 2000. NEW ZEALAND.—First Innings.
