HOKITIKA BOXING CLUB
MONDAY, AUGUST 31st. ■A meeting of the Executive was held in Kellers’ Rooms at 7 p.m. Present - Messrs F. McGregor (Chair,), R. I)unless, J. Johnson, M. McGavin, E. Heenan, J. Atkinson, J. Staffoid, F. Ballinger, !K. Bed, D. Dowell. Apologies were made for 0. Hahn, E. Best, W. Haybittle, Mr R. -Bell acting as secretary. The minutes of the previous meeting wire read and continued. Several accounts were passed for payment. Nrr McGregor moved and- Mr Furness seconded, that a letter of trunks v be forwarded ; to the Wist Coast Motor Co. for their generous prize donated for the Lucky Spot at the recent Ball. ■Carried. The Secretary handed in medals for the coming tourney from ’Misses De- * vaney and Mr W. H. Stopforth. Mr McGregor moved that letters of thanks be forwarded to the donors. Seconded by J. Johnson and carried. Mr Stafford moved, and Mr E. _W. ■Heenan seconded, tnat a tourney be held on Saturday afternoon September 19th, open to all classes from baby weight to h'-avy, also that the Rugby Union be written to asking that the fixture be arranged Rival v. Excelsior at 1.30 p.m. Carried. Two special bouts were decided upon/ a 6 2 minute-rounds welter bout between iC t Pfhalert (Kanieri) and C. Moore v (Greymouth), and feather weight over the same distance between G, Freitas and an opponent to be arranged. It was decided to hold a 'Westland light-weight championship, making the medal presented by Mr L. H. Evans the trophy. The date of closing nominations was fixed for Wednesday 16th inst. The Secretary was authorised t« g et two extra planks for the platform.
