CAR SMASH
A CHILD KILLED. OTHER PERSONS INJURED. NAPIER, August, 31. A ear .collided at Taradale last night with a power pole, a,ud resulted in serious injuries to A. Whitii Wliiti (driver) and his wife and child, also a sister-in-law, Mrs Matu, who were admitted to the hospital. W. F. Desha was also injured, hut was able to proceed home after first aid treatment. The child died early this morning. The latest report states the two women are in a serious condition, while the man has improved somewhat. It is understood that Wliiti Wliiti attempted to pass another car, skidded, struck a culvert, and crashed into a pole. The car was wrecked beyond repair.
