REBELS OVERCOME. I United Press Association — JJy Electric ieiegrapli.—Copyright. J LISBON, August 26. A number ot rebels, • armed with machine guns and rifles, attacked thy barracks of an hrtillery regiment arrested the officers and induced the troops to join in a revolt. The loyal regiments police and Republican Guard were quickly mobilised. They attacked the barracks where in the rebels were barricaded. After a short resistance, the rebels surrendered. They were taken prisoners, together with their leader, Colonel Diaz.

The remainder of the city is quiet. The shops are closed, and the streets are being patrolled. The Government officers are guarded by machine gurm.

Thus far, ten are reported to be dead,

An aeroplane, carrying the leaders of the revolt, has escaped into Spain. Another plane with leaders crashed when it was taking off, and the occupants were made prisoners.
