INDIAN CRISIS
GANDHI’S EFFORT. VICEROY ’Si INVITATION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY,- August 23. After returning to Simla yesterday from Calcutta, the Viceroy of India, Lord Willington, summoned a meeting of the Executive Council at which consideration was given to Dr. Gandhi’s telegram assuring His Excellency of Ids desire to l ■ prevent a breakdown of the Delhi Truce, and asking for an interview, It was later announced that , Dr. Gandhi had been invited to visit Simla, if lie felt that there were misunderstandings which a personal interview might clear up. A Bombay message says that Dr. Gandhi has accepted the invitation and-has left Ahmebad to-night. He will be received bv the Viceroy on Tuesday.
