THURSDAY, AUGUST 20th. This evening, IYA will-.relay from the Town Hall the second of the 1931 Season’s concerts to be given by the Royal Auckland Choir under the conductorship of Dr W. iE. Thomas. 'The major portion of the vocal items from 2YA this evening will be given by the Waiata Quartet. These ladies, who are proving very popular radio artists, will be heard in quartettes, trios, duets and solos. Outstanding number will be "Time’s Garden” sung by Mrs P. Ramsey, with ’cello obligato, a vocal trio with orchestral accompaniment, “Bird Songs at Eventide,” and a quartette with orchestral accompaniment, "Sleep Gentle Lady.” Air Jjrank.Skinner (tenor) will be heard in three songs. Mr Len Ashton will amuse listeners by presenting three humorous numbers. The incidental music will, be supplied by the Salon Orchestra, under 'Mr AL T. Dixon.
The lecturer for the International Programme at 3YA this evening will be Mr W. Machin, General Manager of the (New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association. He will speak on "International Indebtedness.” Silent day at 4YA. FRIDAY, AUGUST 21st. Mrs L. M. Keven (contralto) and Mr Morris T. Schroeder (baritone) will be the singers on lYA’s programme this evenings Their items will include some favourite numbers. The Asquiths will contribute one of their popular twentyminute drawing room entertainments, .vir ,R. A. McMilne and his accordeon will provide a collection of jigs and hornpipes. The Orchestral Octet will contribute a popular instrumental programme.
The 2YA programme includes a variety of items that should prove entertaining to all listeners. Miss Gladys Barton .(mezzo-soprano), well known to IYA list'mops will be heard in “Ihe Link (Divine” and “Mate O’ Mine” (both with violin obligato) and "The Garden if Mlah.” Mrs H. G. -Reeves and her banjo band will again delight listeners in a series of numbers. The Orchestrina will supply the incidental music. Contralto and tenor solos (with orchestral accompaniment), piano novelties, entertainers at the piano, orchestral selections, a lecture, and a gramophone lecture-recital will comprise the varied programme to come from 3YA. Ihe vocalists will be Miss Kathleen Bond (contralto) and the over-popular Mr David McGill. Miss Maisie Ottey will be the pianiste. The r l wo Rascals will the vaudeville turn, and All E. fveagh Lord will continue his series of italics on “The Story of the Golden Coast,” while Mr Karl Atkinson’s lec-ture-recital wi" be ‘lhe Alidas of Alelody.” Air Arthur Gordon’s Orchestra, specialising in popular melodies, will contribute to 4YA’s miscellaneous programme. A vaudeville turn, in ' song, dance and patter, will be contributed by Thfeißadiettesi As a trumpet solo, Air Ira Coughlin will play "Lucille.” Misses E. and J. -Ritchie will sing songs and duets and there will be solos by Aliss Lucy G. James (contralto) and Mr -Arthur W ■ Alloo (baritone). Mr H. Stokes will play as a banjo solo the "Barcarolle” from “Tales of Hoffman.” Two humorous items will be given by Air Lester I-. -Aloller.
