AN ABSCONDER

BAIL ESTREATED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, August 20. An order estreating £SO bail in the case of John Hartland Pearson, who absconded, was made by Magistrate Mosley to-dav. The bondsman was John iSinslair Langley. The police said Pearson had previously oeeri remanded on a charge of false pretences, but had not been seen since. According to counsel's statement Langley borrowed the money from Pearson's wife who had herseil borrowed it. The .Magistrate, said that a surety was not a nominal undertaking, and a person entering into it must have some responsibility.
