TOKYO, August 14
The New Zealand airman, Chichester, left Kagoshima in his seaplane at 10.25 o’clock this morning, en route to the Kasumigura naval airfield, fifty miles northward of Tokyo. He is probably refuelling at Katsuura on the coast, one hundred miles south of Osaka.
He is expected at Kasumigura at seven this evening. He will be welcomed by Japanese naval authorities. He then rests for a few days before proceeding to America, going via the Kurile Islands and Alaska. Although last evening’s examination failed to explain dearly the reasons of his delay in his flight, from iShaughai, the authorities allowed Chichester to continue, reserving further inquiries till later. OSAKA, August 14. Chichester arrived at Katsuura this afternoon. He is departing for Tokyo to-morrow. CRAMER’S FATE. OSLO, August 13. A fishing vessel reported sighting a body floating upright in a life-saving jacket twenty or thirty miles northwest of the Shetland Isles. The weather prevented an approach. It is feared it may be the hody of Cramer, the missing American airman, who was flying of the Arctic.
