FRANCE’S HARD LUCK

CUP PLANE'S ENGINE DAMAGED

PARIS, August 14

A disaster has overtaken France’s 1951 secret two-thousand horse-power “Lorraine’’ Schneider seaplane. This has considerably impaired ties country's chances in the Cup race. While the engine was out on the testing ground, working with a full throttle, it suddenly stopped with a tearing, grinding sound, but the exact details are not available. It was fortunate that the machine was not aloft at the time, or otherwise, another tragedy could not have been avoided.
