a. dinner, attended by representatives of scientific and industrial interests. A letter read from the Govern-or-General, stated : “As a humble, wor-
shipper at the shrine of Michael Faraand as an intense admirer o. the Royal Institution, I shall he with you in spirit and sympathy at tonight’s memorial dinner. The on© great dominant force in the world today is science. To its . manifest revelations no progressive nation can afford to be indifferent.”
COURSING
WATERLOO CUP MEETING
AUCKLAND, August 13
The Twelfth Australasian Waterloo Cup meeting commenced at Otahuhu to-day. Forty dogs took part in the preliminary rounds. Two dogs were run under Australian nomination, and Again Terms, entered by the N.S.'W. Coursing Association, was the winner in both his runs.
