WORK SLACKENING, Telegraph—Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, August 13. Wishing to sa\e expense, which may prove unnecessary, the Public Works Department is not constructing bridges over the Comvay and Leader Rivers on the South Island Main Trunk line, and it is proceeding only slowly with the other construction work. The Department is awaiting the decision of the Railway Board, as to whether, or not. the line is to he completed. The Boil'd is, at present, making its second inspection iff the line.
