HOSPITAL HALL
AN UNEQUALIIGED SUCCESS) Favoured with a fine night after the> ■stormy weather of the past few days, the annual benefit ball in aid of the funds of Westfand Hospital took place last night in the Soldiers’ Hall. Then* was almost a record attendance the large* hall being crowded throughout the evening, the dancing floor being filled to capacity. There were a large number of fancy dresses present, and the scene was: a. very gay and festive one. The hall had been daintily decorated with evergreens, and chiiu.se lanterns wlrch were lit w.th electric Vght and colored electric bulbs, making a bright attractive scene.. The floor was in perfect order, and the music supplied by the Black Hand Orchestra of a bright and enjoyable nature, while the Parryphone supplied the extras. The ladies’ committee provided » plentiful supper of a most satisfying nature and the requirements of all were well attended to. Following a parade of the fancy costumes, the Judges (Dr and mrs Hayes and Dr and Mrs Wilson):., awarded the prizes for the best fancy t costumes to Mrs Win. Wilson (Early ; Victorian) and Mr R. Anderson (“The Viking”). There were many excellent costumes and the judges had a somewhat difficult job to decide on the winners. Their decision met ’with a hearty round pf applause. Dancing was continued until after two o’clock the ball proving tt great success from every point of view. TG-MGHT. THE KIDDIES CARNIVAL, The Soldiers’ Hall will be the. scere of great gaiety when the juvenile fanyy dress ball dn connection with the annual Hospital Ball takes place. There will be: a very attractive array of fancy costumes and the opnortunity will be taken to give the little ones an enjoyable outing. These annual carnivals are always adelight and attract an overflowing attendance. To-night should prove another distinct success. There well, be much interest as usual in the judging ,of tha costumes, while rue ladies oomm’ttee have arranged for; the special delicacies for supper that the youngsters are so partial to. The ball will commence at 7.30 p.m.
