Baton charges* by thirty policemen, dispersed a crowd of about a thousand unemployed who assembled at Fitzroy House and threatened to cause trouble over the eviction of a family for the non-payment of rent. Unemployed tore pickets from fences and were about to attack the police sergeant and bailiff, when police cars arrived.
