CANADIAN ELECTIONS
A LABOUR VICTORY, (United Presa Association—By Electro Telegraph,—Copyright.) TORONTO, August 10. The Conservative Party gained one seat and lost one seat in two Federal by-elections that were held to-dav. Mr Humphrey Mitchell, Labour candidate, captured the East Hamilton seat, which has traditionally been Conservative, with a majority of three thousand votes from Mr M. M. Robinson, the Conservative. In the constituency of Three Rivers, Air Charles Bourgeois, Che Conservative, defeated Mr Wilfred Cariepy, the 'Liberal, by a margin of 251 votes. The Liberals have held this seat for thirty years. The by-elections ' were caused by the deaths of the former members.
