WITHDRAWAL OF PROSECUTION. AUCKLAND, August 8. “I am not going to allow you to make a convenience of the Court like that,” said the Magistrate (Mr Hunt) when the Labour Department asked that a charge of non-payment of the unemployment levy, preferred against G. F. Allen, should be withdrawn.

Allen had made a statement to a constable that he was unable to pay the.levy. He had to fsencl his wife and family to Australia to stay with relatives. “■ ,

The Magistrate adjourned the case for a week. “If a man could afford to send his wi "e and children to Australia he could afford to pay the levy,” said Mr Hunt.
