United Preso Association —By Electric telegraph.—Copyright i NEW YORK., August 8. , “Legs” Diamond, the gang leader, whose wonndings were cab ed on October 12th, and April 27th last was finally convicted of felony, after many contests with the law. He was foil'll 1 guilty to-day of violating the Pro'lli bition Act by maintaining an illicit st-11, and he faces a sentence of four years, and a fine of eleven thousand dollars. Diamond was recently acquitted of a charge" of torturing a farmer during his beer running activities. The gangster will probably appoa against to-day’s conviction.
