BOXING ASSOCIATION.

ASHBURTON, August 6,

New Zealand Boxing Association’s annual meeting has opened, the -_r H. D. Johnston, presiding.

The report stated the year began with a credit of £1770 and ended with a credit of £2,028.

After a long discussion, the Conference approved of the principle that Associations be permitted to pay professional Doxers on a percentage basis, and appointed a committee to draft the necessary amendments to the rules, reporting to-morrow. The, Boxing Conference rejected the Whangarei remit for the examination of referees, also the Hawkes Bay remit of limiting, the professional contests to twelve rounds, also Waimate that the Associations in towns under three thousand of a population pay fifty per cent, less fees to the New Zealand Association. The Conference carried the Wellington remit that at the annual meeting the Associations have a vote for each permit used that between July 31st-. last and the next annual meeting levies to the insurance fund bo suspended. £IOO was granted to the Christchurch Sports Club. A request by the. Napier and Hawkes Bay Associations for earthquake relief wa c referred to the Council for favourable consideration.
