ARiAHUiRA STOCK SALE, Wintry conditions of the worst kind attended yesterday’s fixture at Arahura which did not add to the selling quality of the stock yarded. The total entry comprised 86 head 01 cattle' (the hugest for some time) and 106 tat sheep.
'.Many of the pens of cattle showed immistakeable -signs of the severity of the recent weather conditions and were slipping back. Finished lines however brought gbod competition at rates equal to the last sale at these yards. No heavy cattle were offered. Sheep sold well.
W. Jeffries and Co. sold for J. Bradley 47 mixed ewes and wethers at 18s 6d. For T. Staines (privately) 50 wethers at 19.5. For A. Reid 1 heifer at £5 17s 6(1. '2 steers at £5 10s, 2 ditto at £5 ss. 2 ditto at £4 17s 6d. 5 ditto at £4 15*. For J. Condon 1 steer at £9 10-s. For D. Stock 2 steers at £7 15s, 2 ditto at ,£6 17s 6d, 2 runners at £5 ss, 1 ditto at £5, 2 ditto at £3 7s 6d. 2 ditto at ;£2 16s, 8 heifers at £5, 2 ditto at £1 12s 6d. For Perry and 'Co. 3 steers at .£9 10s, 2 ditto at £8 12s 6d. 2 ditto at £8 ss, 2 .ditto at £B, 1 heifer at £7 7s 6d, 1 ditto at. £6 17s 6d, 5 ditto at £6 12s 6d, 1 ditto at £6 10s. For \N • H. Messrs M. Houston and Co. report:—There was a inii f h larger yarding of fat cattle at yesterday’s sale at the above yards, our entry comprising 25 head which were offered to a rroocl attendance of buyers. There was good competition tor all finished lines, at prices on a par with those ruling at other yards at the present time. Good ox beef sold from 28s to .‘fits per hundred, and heifer and oo" beef from 24s to 28s. We sold as follows: . ■ , On account of W. A.
