NO BREAD

Many of the unemployed in the metropolitan area were unable to secure their dole of bread to-day. This was owing to the master bakers refusing to supply Shadlers Limited, who last week were given a Government contract to provide relief bread. Half a million loaves weekly are required: Tbe Shadlers Company are to receive 3s lld .per dozen .small loaves from the Government, and are to pay tbe bakers 3s 8d per dozen. The master bakers declare- that bread cannot be produced at this price and they refuse to supply bread below 4s 3d per dozen small loaves. People to-day bad to pay 5d cash for their bread and those without money were not supplied.
