REFORM CAUCUS. WELLINGTON, August 1. As far as can be gathered the Reform caucus last night did not finality as <to the line of action to be followed regarding the Government’s fiscal programme, , The meeting resumed after the House rose and continued until IL3O p.m., when members lost no ' time in making their train and boat connections for the week-end.

One prominent member, known for tlie directness of his comments, while averse to discussing the position, dropped a remark that was not without significance. It was jocularly suggested to him by a waiting Pressman that after all the Government might receive only a tongue bludgeoning at the hands of the official Opposition. The member smiled. “I wonder,” he murmured. V Mr Coates had nothing to sav as to the result of the caucus when interviewed. “I have nothing to communicate to the Press. I would prefer not to discuss the subject,” was bis only comment.

Another caucus of the party will be held on Tuesday.
