THEIR APPLICATION. WELLINGTON, August 1. In reply to a question to-day Mr Forbes made it clear that the new duties embodied in the Customs resolutions approved by the Rouse on Thursday night apply to goods already on the water, which were not .imported into iNew Zealand until after July 30. Mr Forbes added, however, that it goods were imported at one port in (New Zealand on or before July 30, even though intended for subsequent entry at another port, such goods would he liable to the lower rates. Goods in bonded warehouses, which were cleared after July 30, would pay the new rates.
