The Cronadun Ladies’ Hockey Club have chalhiuged the Hokitika Ladies’ Club for the Brooks Cup which was won by Hokitika at Reef ton last Wednesday. The game will be played to-mor-row on Cass Square, and the following will represent the local team: —E. Randall, M. Sumner, E. Hutson, D. .noWhirter, L. Staines, J. C lltt, J. Hall, M. Hughes, N. Yarrall, P. Dowell and H. Ridland. Emerg: E. Collett, and M. Cameron.

CANTERBURY' SUCCESSFUL. CHRISTCHURCH, August 3. The Canterbury hockey representatives were successful in defending their title to !he New Zealand Hockey Association Challenge Shield the thrd time this season, when they played Otago on Saturday at 1 Lancaster Park. The match was played as a curtain-raiser to the Rugby football match CanterburyWairarapa and attracted a good attendance of the public, there being a thousand present when the teams bullied off and about three thousand by half-time. The first spell was fairly evenly contested and at half-time the score was, Canterbury 2, Otago 1. Early in the second spell Canterbury scored two move iroals in quick, success’on and then the game slackened and lost interest, Otago piaviiig as a beaten team and Canterbury easing up. The final score was:. Canterburv S, Otago 1. The nest match for the shield will he Canterbury v. Nelson on August 22.
