\ ' LONELY*' TRIP TO NELSON. • V l :v ; (NELSON, July 31. On June ■ 1.8,: Mr Arthur Darwin Bromeii,-rif-Tui, went alone, on a prospecting expedition on Mount Owen, and has .not been heard of since. He told Mr E. Cobeldiek, of Tui, on the day he was going away that he intended, to go through the pass from Mount Owen to Nuggety Creek, and then on to the headwaters of the Owen Valley. When he left he had about a month’s supply of. food ; a rifle, compass, and axe. It is . thought that he would go to Nuggety Gave, about 1,000 feet from the top of Mount Owen (6400 feet)! . If .he is still at Nuggety Cave there is little hope for him, but if he v has reached the Owen Valley there is a prospect of his being safe as there is plenty of firewood and deer in. the vicinity. ' t : Those who , know the country say it is practically impossible to get to .•vNvggety Gaye at- as ‘'there would be five or (six feet of /snow on the .flats whiicji aro. covered with pot holes up to 20ft deep.
