THE HOUSE. UNFINISHED DEBATE. (By Telegraph — l J er Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 1. In the House of Representatives yesterdny afternoon was occupied by the continued debate on the second reading of Mr Lysnar’s Meat Export Control Amendment Bill. . The House already had before it the amendment of Mr Hamilton that the Bill shoud be read a second time six months hence. Mr Rushworth contending there was support for the Bill among members of Farmers Union, moved that it be read a. second time on twelfth August. This was seconded by Mr MacDonald. Mr .Tones said it would be risky for the House to interfere with legislation i which had been on the statute book for nine years, and had. operated successfully during that period. | After Air Bitchener and Air Sykes had spoken opposing the Bill. Air Hogan stated he was in favour of the measure and wanted a vote to be-jnken . on it. The House had spent nearly ! two days on the second reading but there seemed to be some members who, were determined it should not reach a division. He therefore moved that the question be now put. j Air Speaker said it was true the Bill had now been before the House oil two occasions and he did not think it would be an infringement of the rights of the minority if the closure motion '• were put. i Mr Hogan’s motion was defeated by ' 31 to 29, and the debate was continued bv ATessrs Samuel and Waite, until . the rising of the House at 5.30 p.m., till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
